Nicholas Messing
25+ years of experience
Nicholas is a Counselling Psychologist and Parent-Infant Psychotherapist, spending the vast majority of his 20+ year career in the NHS. He has worked in adult, child and family and parent and baby settings, serving as the clinical lead and supervising teams. This breadth and depth of experience has meant that Nicholas is adept at helping individuals, couples and families, particularly in understanding relationships, both with oneself and between others.

Nicholas specialises in supporting parents with their mental health, new parents with their relationship with a new baby and couple relationships. Therapy may take place individually, as a couple or together with a baby.
Couples counselling is described by Nicholas as, 'a framework to understand how each member of the couple sees the other, how they expect the other to behave, relating to their own background history'.

Nicholas describes his approach as, 'a psychodynamic therapeutic framework, which helps make sense of the distress you may be experiencing, by placing it in the context of your whole life. Therapy is a safe space where emotions can be expressed, faced and accepted.'
